As part of the higher education system, Extension is typically held to the same standards of scholarly reporting. Each faculty member has different strengths, but almost all departments have an unstated common mantra—publish or perish. The publication process can be intimidating at first, but becomes infinitely easier with just a bit of reframing, planning, and practice.

Many extension educators are burdened by publication and dissemination demands. The process can be demystified through a sequence of planning, identifying individual strengths, and finding compatible collaborators. Further publication success can be found when authors target the correct journal and accept that the review and rejection sequence is part of the publication process that needs to be embraced and valued.

This webinar draws from the experience of one life-long learner and extension faculty member with dozens of publications to identify the sound and simple processes for turning programming into published, peer-reviewed reporting. Working under more than a dozen faculty mentors at five different institutions of higher learning, specific examples demonstrate factors that lead to varying levels of publication success.
